Feed Suppliment

Soybean prior to oil extraction is referred to as Full Fat Soybean. Roasted Full Fat Soybean is an adequately heat processed whole soybean. It contains complete amount of oil and protein naturally present in soybeans. They valued as a good feed ingredient owing to its high oil and protein content. Properly processed full fat soybeans are a valuable feed ingredient because of their energy, protein, linoleic acid, vitamin E and lecithin contents.

Raw soybeans cannot be used as such for animal feed or human food, because they contain several different antinutritional factors. These factors are: a) Trypsin and chymotrypsin inhibitors; b) Phytohaemagglutinins (Lectins); c) Urease; d) Allergenic factors; and e) Lipases and Lipoxygenase.

These factors affect the digestion of soybeans in the stomach. All of the factors can be deactivated, through proper heat treatment to eliminate their adverse effect. This can be accomplished only through optimum processing and good quality control measures.

The processing of soybeans starts with cleaning & cracking. Soybeans are cracked and Roasted subjected to adequate heat processing in an industrial roaster at a particular temperature & pressure for a specified period of time to destroy all anti nutritional factors (Trypsin & Chymotrypsin inhibitors, Haemagglutinins/Lectins, and Saponins) present in raw soybeans. Roasted soybeans are rolled into full-fat flakes, which provide the basis for ground and powdered product. As soybeans are high in protein, they are a major ingredient in livestock & poultry feed. Soy is one of the few plants that provides a complete protein as it contains all eight amino acids essential for animal health.

It can be one of the best high energy, high protein feed ingredient for cattle & poultry feed owing to higher protein , higher oil content , and higher metabolizable energy. It also offers higher amino acids, minerals and vitamin profile. It carries all advantages like increased density of nutrients & enhanced performance etc. Protein and energy value of full fat soybean meal is higher than combination of soybean oil and soybean meal

Soybean products are the most important sources of protein and energy in livestock feeds for many animals. Soybeans have a good amino acids profile, with a high content of lysine, tryptophan, isoleucine, valine, and threonine . Soy protein is also of the highest quality. This means that the quality of soy protein is equal to that of meat and milk proteins. Incorporating soybeans and its byproducts in the rations for livestock is a fairly common practice. They are an excellent source of essential amino acids.

Raw soybeans contain several anti-nutritional factors that may result in some deterioration in the protein & fat portion of the beans. These enzymes include lipase and lipoxidase. Raw soybeans also contain the enzyme urease. Raw soybeans do contain a trypsin inhibitor and possibly other antienzymes, which may reduce protein digestion and utilization. These enzymes can be destroyed by proper heat treatment of raw soybeans. Soybean Oil Meal is produced by mechanically squeezing out the oil. Less oil is removed in this process and the soybean oil meal is left over by 7-8% of oil.

During the process of squeezing oil from beans adequate amount of heat is produced in soybean oil meal due to which anti-nutritional factors present in raw beans are readily destroyed . Soybean Oil Meal is palatable, nutrient dense, high in digestibility, and a relatively consistent source of protein and Fat. It has an excellent amino acid profile. It is a concentrated source of protein and energy and is lower in fiber than soybean meal.

Because this product contains more oil compared to solvent-extracted soybean meal, the energy value is higher and animals find it more palatable because of less dustiness and fines. Heat produced during manufacturing of the product initiates chemical reactions between sugars and amino acids, due to which value of rumen undegradable protein increases. An average RUP value as a percent of crude protein for properly heated soybeans is 50%.The main objective of the process is to achieve even heating and allowing the beans to be steeped or held without cooling for additional time.
